Data sources & licensing

FREQBEACON uses external radio data only when the intended use is supported by a documented licence, public-data grant, or explicit permission. Public availability alone is not treated as permission to scrape or republish data.

Active data

Ofcom — UK broadcast transmitter technical parameters

ACTIVE. FREQBEACON uses a pinned snapshot of Ofcom's official MF technical-parameter data. Contains public sector information licensed under the Open Government Licence v3.0.

Source snapshot date: 5 August 2026. FREQBEACON verifies the pinned source by SHA-256 before generating the runtime catalog.

Permitted but currently inactive

ISED — Canada Broadcasting Database

INACTIVE. The parser is retained, but production builds do not fetch ISED live. Activation requires a pinned first-party snapshot with provenance and integrity metadata plus required Government of Canada attribution.

ACMA — Licensed Broadcasting Transmitter Data

INACTIVE. ACMA publishes this material under Creative Commons Attribution 2.5 Australia. Production builds do not fetch it live; activation requires a pinned first-party snapshot with provenance and integrity metadata.

Disabled pending permission or source migration

Receiver directories and public KiwiSDR receivers

FREQBEACON does not scrape ReceiverBook. Live KiwiSDR access is made as an external client so each receiver owner's external-application channel limits are enforced by the receiver itself.

Program schedules and reference catalogs

DISABLED WHERE UNCLEARED. Automated broadcaster-page scraping, the former third-party merged HFCC/EiBi schedule feed, and the former third-party FCC mirror are disabled until the relevant reuse permission or first-party migration is documented.

Operating rule

If FREQBEACON cannot establish that an external source permits the intended automated use, the integration stays off. A source restriction or receiver-owner control is never bypassed by changing paths, identities, mirrors, proxies, or cached copies.
